Scottish Girls Championships 2022

Update: Tuesday 7th June - The player winning the Scottish Girls Champion title in each section will receive 6 months free membership of Chess Scotland either as a new membership or an extended renewal date if they are already a member

Lothian Junior Chess are pleased to host the 2022 Scottish Girls Championships on behalf of Chess Scotland

The tournament is open to girls of school age and will have 3 sections:

  • Scottish Girls Championship
  • Open to all girls of school age, including 2022 leavers. Mostly Secondary School age but younger ones can ‘play up’

  • Scottish Girls Primary Championship
  • Open to all girls of Primary School age, but mostly P6 & P7

  • Scottish Girls P5 & Under Championship
  • Open to all girls in P5 or Under


Scottish Titles will only be awarded to players who have satisfied Scottish eligibility conditions.

For the Scottish Girls Championships there is a single winner in each section. If necessary the following tie-breaks are used to ensure an outright winner

  • Direct encounter
  • Sonneborn-Berger
  • Buchholz
Time control: 25 minutes per player.

Games will be graded on the Chess Scotland Allegro Grading list for 2021-2022

All data will be held in compliance with the Chess Scotland and the Lothian Junior Chess Data Protection policies

Players are only supervised whilst in the playing hall and therefore Lothian Junior Chess events are not drop off events. Parents/carers are responsible for their children between games and are therefore expected to stay on-site or make a private arrangement for the supervision of their children. For this event there is a spacious waiting area for parents

Catering

Catering will not be available at the venue. There are supermarkets and cafes in the local area

Venue specific rules

The whole of the school premises is a non-smoking area, and smoking is not permitted. This includes the car park areas.

Pets are not allowed in the grounds with the exception of service dogs

No stiletto or any type of thin heel is to be worn.

Discounts

Lothian Junior Chess offers free entry to their tournaments to players who are entitled to free school meals because their family is on a low income. If this applies to you, please enter using the entry form but do not pay. Instead please send us a message using the contact tab.
